Our client is a global leader in industrial engineering and supply chain productivity solutions. Following highly successful internal AI initiatives that have already proven massive operational value , they are ready to accelerate their transformation and scale their internal AI capabilities.  

They are looking for a highly hands-on Lead AI Engineer to design, build and deploy production-ready AI applications that solve complex business challenges at global scale. This is a role, where you will spend most of your time developing AI solutions, collaborating closely with Data Engineering teams, and taking GenAI use cases from Proof of Concept through to production.

A core part of your mission will be establishing an internal center of excellence, fostering a culture of innovation, and reducing reliance on external vendors.

100% Remote from anywhere in Spain, or a flexible hybrid model if you are based in Barcelona.

  • Main Responsibilities
  • Design and Build AI Solutions: Design, develop and deploy production-ready AI applications using Generative AI, Azure OpenAI, RAG and intelligent automation.
  • Seamless Enterprise Integration: Connect AI systems smoothly into core corporate data platforms, everyday business applications, and operational workflows.
  • Hands-on Development: Write production-quality Python code, build APIs, implement RAG pipelines, and take AI solutions from PoC to production.
  • Industrialize Use Cases at Scale: Productionalize AI applications across global business units with a relentless focus on high performance, maximum reliability, and long-term scalability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with data engineering, Business Intelligence (BI), and cross-functional business teams to ship unified solutions.
  • Maximize Business Impact & ROI: Translate complex corporate requirements into high-efficiency AI tools, defining clear KPIs to monitor cost impact, adoption metrics, and concrete ROI.
  • Provide Technology Leadership: Constantly evaluate and adopt the latest breakthroughs (LLMs, copilots, advanced automation tools), while establishing internal reference standards and acting as a strategic technical advisor.
  • Share knowledge, mentor other engineers and contribute to establishing AI engineering best practices across the organization.
  • Work closely with Data Engineering: Collaborate with Data Engineers responsible for the data platform while owning the AI application layer.
  • Core Skills/Experience
  • Hands-on AI Engineering: You are still actively building AI applications every day and enjoy writing production-quality code. This is not a people management role.
  • Generative AI & LLM Mastery: Practical experience working with premier Large Language Models (e.g., GPT, Claude) and advanced prompt engineering.
  • RAG Architecture Design: Strong expertise designing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) frameworks, including embeddings, vector search, and structured document processing.
  • Python Mastery & Frameworks: Expert-level Python development with experience building production APIs and AI applications.
  • Data Platforms & Integration: A solid understanding of data lake / lakehouse platforms alongside hands-on capability in API-based system integration to embed AI within ERP and CRM ecosystems.
  • Cloud Infrastructure (Azure-Centric): Proven experience building and deploying production AI solutions using Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, Azure Functions and App Services.
  • MLOps / LLMOps Lifecycle: Proven background deploying and maintaining AI systems in live environments, including the proactive monitoring of runtime quality, performance baselines, and underlying infrastructure costs.
  • Security, Governance & Compliance: A baseline fluency in data security protocols, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), AI governance frameworks, and international regulatory shifts such as the EU AI Act.
