We are seeking a Search Engineer / Data Engineer (Solr / Elasticsearch) on behalf of a leading e-commerce and digital technology company. The organization relies on a proprietary search engine to ensure millions of customers discover the right products in real time—and they need a skilled technical professional to join their Search Engine Core team and elevate catalog relevance.
In this role, you will act as the technical and strategic linchpin of the search ecosystem. You will oversee all relevance configurations and parameter settings—including boosts, field schemas, filters, and Lucene function queries—inside an Apache Solr-based search engine. You will design and maintain data processing rules during ETL to optimize product indexing, mappings, and filter creation, while tracking key relevance metrics such as precision, recall, and nDCG. Additionally, you will partner closely with Product Owners, Data Analysts, Data Scientists, and international Search Managers across multiple countries, translating business requirements and active campaigns into code-level configurations through scripting, Python, or Java/Kotlin in an environment leveraging modern DevOps, Kubernetes, and AI coding assistants.
