Our client has changed the way student accommodations work around the UK and now they are ready to expand themselves to Spain, ensuring not only the best student experience on the market but also the safest place to live. They have reimagined the way we live to put student health, safety, and wellbeing first. This new and exciting role holds responsibility for launching a successful student accommodation brand in a new market. 

The company is seeking for an experienced and passionate leader to run the Spanish operations and help with the transition to a self-sufficient platform.

As Head of Operations, you will work closely with the Operations Director to determine short- and long-term goals and you will oversee every detail of the product delivery and customer service and manage the teams that deliver this experience. This includes the delivery of all operational policies, practices and compliance across the estate for all health and safety and other legislative requirements.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver the brand strategy in order to maintain the world-famous standards the brand is known for, as well as review and adapt the product to local markets as required
  • Develop, implement and optimise all operational policies and practices and deliver localised accreditations in Spain
  • Oversee the implementation of technology solutions and manage expenses and budgeting to help optimize costs
  • Coordinate to ensure zero arrears and that customer feedback is considered and customer service is of the highest standards 
  • Ensure compliance with local and international laws (e.g, data protection) and that all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance laws and regulations
  • Be the key point of contact for all partners and stakeholders within the city
  • Mentor and motivate the team while promoting the company culture that encourages top performance and high morale
  • Report on operational performance and make important policy, planning and strategy decisions
  • Ensure all buildings operate efficiently through diligent management of systems, processes, procedures, contracts, supply chains, health and safety across the estate
  • Oversee the pre-mobilisation process of all new building openings and manage of PPM system and 3rd party contractors, ensuring that all sites are undertaking PPM as scheduled and that the contractors are appropriately managed to ensure compliance

Core Skills/experience

  • Proven experience as Head of Operations or similar management/leadership role
  • Familiarity with all business functions including HR, finance, supply chain and IT
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills and problem-solving aptitude
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and leadership ability
  • Ability to build good relationships among managers and employees 
  • Understanding of necessary legal and regulatory documents and ability to develop, implement and review policies and procedures
  • Ability to oversee budgeting, reporting, and auditing
  • Ability to influence key departments to benefit the operational platform
  • Ability to build alliances and partnerships with other organizations and manage national relationships on behalf of the company
