Our client is a leading multinational group that specializes in Consumer Food Products with a worldwide presence, operating in different parts of the world and currently developing their expansion in Africa (Mozambique and Angola).

They are now seeking a talented and experienced General Manager to lead and drive the success of this new venture. Are you up to the challenge?

Main Responsibilities

  • Design and execute the business plan for the business unit in charge, being responsible for the financial aspects, industrial operations, marketing and the development of route-to-market commercial strategies, with the support of corporate functional areas
  • Define the development and empowerment strategy of the country in order to contribute to the achievement of the commercial objectives of the business
  • Generate a sustainable competitive advantage for the business unit in the Subsaharan territory
  • Create and maintain management aligned with the strategy of the partners, implementing a communication scheme according to their needs
  • Control compliance with the industrial implementation of the business, generating levels of efficiency and productivity in line with the determined standards
  • Guarantee the achievement of industrial and commercial targets and ensure competitiveness and service
  • Identify market opportunities and develop a strategy to turn them into profitable businesses
  • Drive synergies between the areas' goals to generate conditions to achieve business objectives, ensuring the highest quality, efficient and sustainable results
  • Build the country's Distribution system through a sustainable scheme that contributes to the achievement of the business' EBITDA and Sales targets

Core Skills/experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field. MBA or advanced degree is a plus
  • Experience with consumer goods in the African market is highly valued
  • Background in business development/sales is a plus
  • High level of self-motivation, resilience, positive attitude, and respect for work ethic
  • Strong negotiation and leadership skills, to be able to work well with remote cross-functional teams
  • Flexibility and capacity to adapt and learn in a changing work environment and feel comfortable with ambiguity
  • Ability to plan and anticipate with a systemic vision of long-term scenarios
  • Setting the course and reorienting the strategy to create new businesses that ensure value creation and consolidate growth based on sustainable management
  • Ability to identify and promote opportunities for interaction between areas to generate joint work capacity and reinforce the achievement of common goals
