Our client has changed the way student accommodations work around the UK and now they are ready to expand themselves to Spain, ensuring not only the best student experience on the market but also the safest place to live. They have reimagined the way we live to put student health, safety, and wellbeing first. This new and exciting role holds responsibility for launching a successful student accommodation brand in a new market. 

We are looking for an experienced Head of Housekeeping to supervise, train and work alongside the staff to ensure all studios and common areas are clean and in tip-top condition. Committed to communicating with the students to understand their needs, you will go the extra mile to help fulfil residents' needs. You will also be expected to prepare reports for management information.


Main Responsibilities

  • Dealing with suppliers, ensuring laundry deliveries, cleaning materials and stock supply is in line with weekly requirements, stored safely and used effectively to minimise wastage 
  • Ensuring that invoices are accurate and keep track and report any discrepancy to the support team from the providers
  • Ensuring cost management is in line with budgets and overseeing other paperwork, such as maintenance reports and safety audits
  • To ensure that all cleaning and laundry consumables are ordered from current nominated suppliers in line with Company purchasing policy
  • To instruct the housekeeping team in their role and required duties/allocation and to provide regular feedback on their performance and support with any training needs
  • Prepare and maintain (together with the managers) a 4-week Rota, ensuring the housekeeping team is adequately staffed at all times and ensuring that all holidays of the team are proportioned out at equal points throughout the year
  • Obtain feedback from residents and staff regarding cleaning and laundry quality to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our residents at all times
  • To implement and maintain cleaning schedules and organise deep cleaning duties when required
  • Ensure cleaning of all areas of the site is to the highest standard of health, safety and hygiene and adheres to COSSH guidelines

Core Skills/experience

  • Understanding and ability to adhere to infection control, health and safety/COSHH guidelines
  • Proven communication, stress management and team motivational skills
  • Proven ability to organise priorities and to manage people and resources in an efficient way
  • Expert leader and good trainer with the ability to work as part of a team and to provide effective training 
  • Ability to work unsupervised, using initiative and maintaining professional standards, even when under pressure
  • Flexible to meet the needs of the annual operations cycle
  • Shares ideas with others [to make improvements]
  • Keen to learn and improve own performance
  • ‘Can-do’ attitude to work and ability to take feedback when given by management
