With more than 8 million searches per day and over 10 million users across Spain with a catalog of several hundreds of millions of products, they exist to empower people to promote a more conscious and human way of consumption. They achieve this by bringing together the scale and simplicity of classifieds with the convenience and the reach of the marketplace to create the world’s best unique goods trading platform.

We are looking for a Business Lead - Motors & Real Estate, who will report directly to the VP of PROs. Wallapop is currently the largest advertising platform for second-hand cars from private sellers, and the second-largest overall in Spain. 

As the Business Lead - Motors & Real Estate you will define the general strategy to drive market penetration and revenue growth. You will manage the full Motors vertical, including all relevant categories (cars, motorcycles, commercial vehicles, auto parts and accessories), target customers (both dealers and private sellers) and sales channels (self-serve and commercial). In addition, you will also take responsibility for further developing our Real Estate vertical by setting up strategic partnerships to improve our value proposition and acquiring new customers. You will be responsible for coordinating all efforts and initiatives across the various functions involved, including product development, marketing, sales and customer support. This role will operate in a full matrix setup organization and therefore requires strong management skills.


Main Responsibilities

  • Define our Motors strategy to improve our competitive position and become the leading classifieds platform for our Motors categories
  • Explore opportunities to further develop our Real Estate category and develop strategic partnerships to enhance our market position
  • Drive the processes to define yearly & quarterly business objectives in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders
  • Collaborate closely with the cross-functional team to translate strategy into operational plans that will help to achieve the set objectives and targets
  • Take full ownership of the key objectives and results, drive execution and report proactively on progress & challenges
  • Partner with Product to develop an aligned roadmap for the team
  • Analyze & improve our current professional proposition and pricing as well as our proposition for private sellers to ensure we maintain our leading position in the market
  • Identify, quantify & prioritize new opportunities to improve and innovate our value proposition towards buyers and sellers and drive revenue growth
  • Create realistic business cases to drive make/partner/buy decisions
  • Manage the full P&L of our Motors business

Core Skills/experience

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in business or engineering
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in business management and/or strategic consulting in the field of classifieds and/or e-commerce
  • Proven experience in developing and delivering business strategy
  • Experience in managing a cross-functional team for an internet company
  • Customer centric mindset in everything you do
  • Proven track record of always delivering results against ambitious P&L targets
  • Commercial and creative mindset, balancing pragmatic solutions with long-term goals
  • Goal-oriented, self-motivated and self-directed
  • Motivated to take full ownership and include relevant partners from start to end
  • Fluent in Spanish and English

Even better if you:

  • Knowledge of the automotive and/or real estate industry is a big plus
  • Business development experience in SMB solutions
  • Experience with the agile working environment in a start- or scale-up company

Our recruitment process

1. Intro Call - run by talent acquisition. It will take 30-45 minutes and will focus on giving you more information about the role and the company as well as going over your experience and expectations.

2. Expertise interview - you will be asked to prepare some content or a case study to present to the hiring team, focusing on the hard skills and domain knowledge required for the role. This usually takes 60 minutes.

3. Case Study - you will be tasked with preparing a case study to present to the team to assess your strategic skills. This will last around 60 minutes.

4. Stakeholder interview - run by relevant stakeholders. The focus will be on assessing your ability to apply your skillset collaborating with other functions in the Wallapop context. This usually takes 60 minutes.

5. Competency Interview - run by talent acquisition and/or hiring manager. We will focus on gaining insights and understanding of how you operate in the workplace and your fit to our values. This usually takes 60 minutes.

6. Offer - should you be the right candidate, your offer will be discussed over a call with talent acquisition and will then be confirmed in writing.
